 Why enroll your infant, toddler, preschooler or kindergartner in a music class? Why would you need to take a class with your child to learn a simple thing like singing in tune or keeping rhythm?

The reason is surprising. In past generations, there wouldn’t have been a need for an early childhood music class. The majority of the population could sing in tune and keep beat. There was a piano in every kindergarten class. Music was an integral part of every day life. Families sang while doing chores, playing, cooking, entertaining--people owned instruments and actually played them! Children learned to sing and keep beat naturally- from family, friends, relatives and teachers. 

In our current society, however, families are much more likely to listen to CD’s, ipods or radios to enjoy music instead of making their own.  American children are developmentally delayed-we need to reclaim our birthright to sing, dance and make music. Early childhood is the easiest time for infants-age 5 to absorb music.  Every child can learn to sing in tune and keep beat if they start when they are young and are supported by their environment.
